With the jumper punch seemingly on the way out the AFL has moved to immortalise one of the game’s richest traditions, today unveiling a limited edition guernsey in celebration of the glory days when players could let rip with wild hooks provided they had a hold of some polyester.
“We’re really proud to unveil this guernsey,” said AFL boss Gillon McLachlan. “It was personally designed by Barry Hall and is made from aerospace grade composites for extra durability, so it isn’t going to tear if you get a bit carried away with things.”
Available in every club’s colours, the limited run of 2,000 jumpers feature built-in handles so you can really get a grip, and are stained with blood collected from Joel Selwood’s trainer over his 10 years in the AFL system for extra authenticity. They will be available for the family friendly price of $750.
