A proposed MCG redevelopment that would shroud the iconic stadium in an all-weather retractable shelter could be bankrolled by none other than North Melbourne coach and lifelong roof advocate Brad Scott, with the 40-year-old kindly offering to finance the construction.
“As we speak, 96 percent of Melbourne’s sporting stadia are open, laid bare, completely vulnerable to the elements,” said Scott. “Let’s start off with the big mumma, the MCG. Let’s get her covered up and shielded from the city’s nasty weather.
“I’ve always said that if we truly want to call ourselves the sporting capital of the world, then we need more roofs around the place,” Scott continued. “I’m more than willing to offer up my hard earned to get the ball rolling.”
