Buckley: We’re Still One Injured, Overpriced Midfielder Short Of The Top Sides

In a stunning admission that brings to light the glaring holes in Collingwood’s list, coach Nathan Buckley has all but conceded that his side is lacking a key ingredient needed to compete with the league’s top teams.

“We’ve got some young emerging talent in the forward line, and our backs are well stocked, but to really round us out we need one more midfielder with the ability to not just send us bankrupt, but do it without ever getting on the field,” said Buckley following the round two loss to Richmond.

While he wouldn’t be drawn on specific targets, Collingwood sources have suggested that Buckley is considering making a move for Fremantle ball magnet Harley Bennell, and possibly even luring Carlton legend Brock McLean out of retirement.
