Following an unprecedented run in the senior side, Collingwood midfielder Daniel Wells has reclaimed his rightful spot on the club’s injury list by tearing his calf during Sunday’s win over Fremantle.
“It was starting to spiral out of control a bit there, not even halfway through the season and I’d already racked up seven games, far more than I was planning on,” said Wells. “Time to get a few massages and put the feet up I reckon.”
After luring the silky onballer from North Melbourne on $550,000 a season, the Collingwood coaching staff are overjoyed with Wells’ output thus far, despite the latest setback.
“Even if he doesn’t play again this year that’s like $80,000 per game, or less than $10k a disposal, pretty good return if you ask me,” said coach Nathan Buckley.
