The new lights at Simonds Stadium have breathed life into the wider Geelong community as residents share excitement over not only the Cats first clash under lights at the fabled ground, but other groundbreaking technologies that might be coming their way.
“It’s just fantastic,” local fisherman Russell Ingliss told Inside Sauce. “We’ve been waiting a long time for the stadium to be connected to the grid, now that’s out of the way we can begin lobbying to bring this Internet thingy down to Geelong.”
Ingliss hadn’t seen such a positive vibe around town since 2006 – the introduction of color televsion.
Geelong coach Brad Scott was also excited about the new developments, “It is great for the footy club, but I think its even better for the people of Geelong. We’ve probably been starved of the opportunities that the big cities have had for a while and I think its a welcome change.”
