The Greater Western Sydney Giants have finally announced themselves to the world of AFL, with youngster Toby Greene charged with assault following an incident at a Caulfield nightclub on Tuesday night.

“It’s a monkey off the back, that’s for sure,” said Giants coach Leon Cameron. “We were worried after missing out on Buddy Franklin at the eleventh hour last off-season that this would be another boring year of unremarkable off-field behaviour. It is great to see the guys we have put the time and development into step up and make a name for themselves.”

Following the success of Greene’s incident, which has drawn unprecedented attention to the Giants, Cameron ordered his players outside to engage in street-fights with anyone that came within arm’s reach.

“We look at the St Kildas, the Collingwoods of the competition and say ‘this is where we need to get to,” said Cameron. “Obviously Essendon are the pinnacle at the moment, but we’re not sure we can afford to take that path.”
