Jack Watts Faces Race To Be AFL Footballer In Time For Round One

With just three weeks remaining until Melbourne’s 2017 season opener against St Kilda on March 25, Jack Watts is facing a race against time to build up the fitness base and skill-level needed to demand a spot in the round one side.

“Wattsy is tracking really well,” said coach Simon Goodwin. “He’s coming from a long way back, but he’s slowly ticking off the boxes and we’re confident he’ll have the basic kicking and handballing stuff down before round one.”

The mobile big man has suffered numerous setbacks this preseason, including third degree burns on his scalp caused by industrial-grade hydrogen peroxide and his teammates generally being better than he is.
