Freshly retired Fremantle spearhead Matthew Pavlich is enjoying his time after football, with the 34-year-old thriving without the commitments of life as a full-time professional athlete.
“I have no regrets,” said Pavlich. “I run around with a local team for a few hours on a Saturday just to keep fit, but choosing not to play competitive AFL football this season has turned out to be a fantastic decision.”
With a multi-million dollar superannuation cheque under his arm, Pavlich has been living it up since retiring at the end of last season, taking regular weekend trips into Perth and buying himself a new Toyota Prius. He spends much of his time sitting back with former coach Ross Lyon, who is also on an indefinite hiatus from the sport.
