He might be out of favour at Carlton, but some still see plenty of potential in Carlton midfielder Dale Thomas, including former coach, mentor and godfather Mick Malthouse who has tabled a lucrative offer to join him at home until the year 2026.
“His body isn’t what it used to be but I’ve got plenty of ideas on how we can put it to use, don’t worry about that,” Malthouse told SEN Breakfast on Wednesday morning. “Come on Dale, come on home.”
The offer put to Thomas’ management is said to be around the $9 million mark over nine years, but the 63-year-old has thrown in plenty of sweeteners in an attempt to sway the fading onballer.
The perks of the role reportedly include his own private bungalow in the yard of Malthouse’s Melbourne home, free bleach in order to restore his hair to its former glory and a series of father-son-like woodworking projects.
Thomas was unavailable for comment, but is said to be considering his options.
